Eman Hamad, MD

The Advocacy and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) section oversees opportunities for women in leadership positions and equal opportunity campaigns. We support and foster an environment of inclusion that welcomes growth in our membership. We work to highlight our presence and increase our visibility in the advanced heart failure community, as well as other medical organizations.

​

The Advocacy and DEI section will advise and counsel members on issues related to leadership and challenges in the work environment, including interpersonal and clinical pressures. We aim to be a resource to support our colleagues’ mental health and wellbeing at work. The section will also draft recommendations that set standards for inclusive hiring practices and working conditions, including maternity leave.

In future, we look forward to supporting and advocating for STEM programs within high school and college settings. We plan to amplify programs such as the American Heart Association (AHA) “STEM Goes Red” initiative and collaborate with other organizations fostering diversity in the cardiology workforce from the grass roots.
