The International Relations section oversees mentorship, sponsorship and collaboration opportunities for our international members. Our foundational aim is to facilitate access to cutting-edge training, research and career building opportunities in heart failure, for cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and engineers with an interest in transplant/MCS from countries where this is not easily accessible. Our goals are:

a)    Expand access to the Women In Transplantation and MCS community to women cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and engineering partners from the world over, with the aim of providing career and research mentorship, and opportunities for specialty training.

b)    Facilitate education and research aimed at improving heart failure care in developing countries.

To this end, we have implemented a country-based tiered model for WiTMCS membership fees, based on the economy of the country as determined by The World Bank model. We are currently developing a database of mentorship, research and training opportunities available to our international members. As these opportunities are available positions, proactively posted by our senior WiTMCS members; we anticipate facilitating a number of fruitful mentor-mentee relationships. In the future, we will focus on developing webinar content specifically geared towards bridging gaps in heart failure education for the international community.
